Presentation: Arc Joining of Steel-Aluminium-Tailored-Hybrid-BlanksMain emphasis has been put on fundamental process analysis and on the conversion of the obtained results into the advancement and development of welding technologies, especially in view of performance increase and the improvement of their economic efficiency. Here, quality assessment during manufacturing by process monitoring and process control as well as material behaviour are assigned equal values. Rational welding manufacturing methods help to meet the presently high quality- and safety demands to welded parts. The ISF - Welding and Joining Institute disposes of an annual staff budget of more than 2 million EUR. The total budget is dominated by means from other sources with almost 80%. Those resources are acquired from national (DFG, AIF, BMBF, government ministries) and international (EC research) research programs. The ISF - Welding and Joining Institute, moreover, is research partner of the industry (individual companies or groups of companies). Technology transfer is supported by the Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Handicrafts and other regional institutions. By research cooperation and exchange of scientists, research work is receiving new impulses. The institute's scientists convey their experts' knowledge to workgroups of national and international experts' associations (DVS, VDI, VdEH, IIW, etc.). |
